Boatright Leads #8 UConn

Ryan Boatright.

Boatright led UConn to a win against Arkansas with 23 points and 6 assists as the Huskies won the Big East vs SEC challenge. Tyler Olander added 12 while Jeremy Lamb had 14. A downfall of the game was UConn gave up 27 offensive rebounds, which will most definitely have to change if they want a chance at a repeat title.

While on a positive note UConn shot 57% from the floor while Arkansas 31%.

Luckily the game was nationally televised so I was able to watch some of the game, I was very impressed with the freshman Boatright's play. Pre season I really thought Lamb was going to carry the team but it seems every game someone else is stepping up for the team. This could lead to some very good things later in the season for this young Husky team

Disappointing Loss to UCF in Battle 4 Atlantis

Marcus Jordan (Michael Jordan's son) lead his Knights to an upset victory against UConn in the Battle 4 Atlantis. Jordan added 20 points along with teammate Keith Clanton. It was the first time UCF had ever defeated UConn and just the third win for the school against a top 25 opponent.

On a positive note Drummond had  a solid game with 13 points, 9 rebounds,  and 4 blocked shots. Lamb posted 15 points in the loss and Oriakhi had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

The loss was the 1st since UConn lost to Notre Dame in the regular season finale at home last season. Coach Jim Calhoun stated "I can't be more disappointed in how we played"

This was a terrible loss for a young team that needs to find a leader on and off the court.

Huskies Undefeated

Shabazz Napier posted the 9th Huskies TRIPLE -DOUBLE in school history against Coppin State with 22 points, 13 assists and 12 rebounds. It was the 1st triple double since UConn legend Kemba Walker was a member of the team last season.

Jeremy Lamb although bothered by a sprained ankle and was questionable for the game scored a game high 25 points.

Coppin State posted a 13 point lead in the first half giving the Huskies a run for their money, but UConn was able to go on a 12 point run to get the game back in hand.

I'm still waiting for Andre Drummond to take over a game and show what he can really do on the court but it has yet to happen. The Huskies will play UNC Asheville on the 24th to open up the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament in the Bahamas which they are the clear favorite to win.

ITS FINALLY BASKETBALL SEASON

It's finally basketball season and the DEFENDING National Champion UConn Huskies blew past Columbia 70-57 on the back of Jeremy Lamb and his career high 30 points. The Huskies are 3-0 to start the season against a few easy opponents (American International, CW Post, Columbia).

OFFICIALLY UConn is 1-0 towards National Ranking play.

Jeremy Lamb had the ESPN number 1 play on the top 10 on Friday with this mind blowing dunk...

If that doesn't impress you, I don't know what will...

The Huskies face off against another out matched opponent in Wagner at Gampel Pavillion tomorrow at 7:30.

The Huskies will be playing in the "Battle 4 Atlantis" Tournament in Paradise Island in the Bahamas starting Nov. 24th vs. UNC Asheville.

Other teams in the Tournament include...UConn, Harvard, Umass Amherst, College of Charleston, UCF(Ce), FSU, UNC Asheville, University of Utah.

UConn is easily the favorite to win the tournament

Huskies Defeat Syracuse

After a few weeks of some tough loses the UConn Husky football team finally got a victory in a conference matchup versus Syracuse.

Red shirt freshmen Scott McCummings got the call and was able to lead the team to a 28-21 victory while rushing for 59 yards and two fourth quarter touchdowns. It is good to see that UConn may actually have a future QB that can get the team to the next level.

The Huskies will play home against Louisville on November 19th for another conference game, it will certainly be a big test for the young Huskies.

Drummond Injured

6 foot 10 freshman sensation Andre Drummond suffered a concussion and a broken nose in practice the other day and spent the night in the infirmary as a  precaution. Drummond is expect to wear a a mask on his face for the first two months of the season.

Hopefully this will not effect his dominance on the court and he will be able to contribute to the team as expected.

Football Falls Again

The Husky Football team dropped another game against Pitt 35-20 on the 26th. Pitt QB Tino Sunersi threw for 419 yards (Career High) and 2 TD's to lead his team against the Huskies. On a brighter note Lyle McCombs rushed for 124 yards on 25 carries.

The Huskies have not been playing very good football as of late, dropping a few games in a row. Although, they had some pretty productive performances from some of their skill players. Kashif Moore added a TD for 106 yards on six catches.

Hopefully they will be able to turn it around this week against Syracuse at home
