The Husky Football team dropped another game against Pitt 35-20 on the 26th. Pitt QB Tino Sunersi threw for 419 yards (Career High) and 2 TD's to lead his team against the Huskies. On a brighter note Lyle McCombs rushed for 124 yards on 25 carries.
The Huskies have not been playing very good football as of late, dropping a few games in a row. Although, they had some pretty productive performances from some of their skill players. Kashif Moore added a TD for 106 yards on six catches.
Hopefully they will be able to turn it around this week against Syracuse at home

Not a Good Way To Open the BIG EAST
The Huskies dropped their Big East opener to West Virginia in Morgantown this weekend 43-16. I was home for the weekend and was able to catch some of the end of the 1st half when it was actually a ball game. You could tell that the Huskies were outmatched but they played some good football in the 1st half, kicking a field goal to bring it within one point heading into the locker room. Everything fell apart in the second half, when the Mountaineers piled the points on.
On a positive note...
UConn basketball stars Alex Oriakhi and Jeremy Lamb were voted to the John R. Wooden top 50 in the nation, they were 2 of the 10 players selected in the Big East conference. UNC set a record with 4 players nominated this year out of the ACC conference. Hopefully these young players live up to the hype this year.

Just a few pictures of some players
Alex Oriahki and Jamal Coombs-McDaniel back in high school at Tilton Prep. Coombs McDaniel is no longer with the team after legal troubles and concerns about playing time.
Point Guard Shabazz Napier....Sporting some Nice Jordan 2's
Tough Loss to Western Michigan
A crowd of 36,648 piled into Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Connecticut yesterday to watch the Huskies take on the Western Michigan Broncos. The Huskies fell to the Bronco's 38-31a must win game for the Huskies on their home field. On a positive note QB Johnny McEntee a RS( Redshirt) Junior from Fullerton, California...threw for 300 yards and 4 TD passes.
UConn came up short again on this game but any that watched it could agree that it was an exciting game and next week at West Virginia in a Big East Conference game.
Basketball is right around the corner and the UConn men's and women's basketball teams are holding a "First Night" event at Gampel Pavilion located on the Storrs Campus on October 14th. The event is free to the public and will include games, food, plus prizes and giveaways. All players will be introduced and there will be a SLAM DUNK & 3 POINT CONTEST featuring the current players. Even some former UConn greats will be making guest appearances.
